How to apply wall mural?
Installation Instructions for Wall Mural
Required Materials:
- The wall mural strips
- The wall mural layout plan
- A measuring tape
- A pencil
- A spirit level or plumb line
- A ruler or large straight edge
- A cutter or scissors
- Paste for non-woven wall mural
- A smoothing brush or rubber roller
- A bucket and brush for applying paste (if necessary)
- A clean, damp cloth
1. Prepare the surface
Ensure that the wall is clean, dry, smooth, and free of defects. If the wall has been freshly painted, wait at least 2 weeks before applying the wallpaper. If necessary, sand any imperfections and clean away dust with a dry cloth.
2. Prepare the wall mural
Unroll each strip of your wall mural according to the supplied layout plan and identify the order of application (plan is only provided for panoramic models).
Ensure that each strip matches correctly.
3. Measure and mark your guidelines
Measure the width of one wall mural strip. Using a spirit level or plumb line, draw a vertical line on the wall at that width. This line will serve as a guide for positioning your first strip straight.
4. Prepare the paste (if necessary)
Prepare the wall mural paste according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Use a brush to apply the paste evenly to the back of the first strip or directly onto the wall.
5. Apply the first strip
Align the first strip with the vertical line you drew. Start by pasting the top of the strip and work your way down. Use a smoothing brush or rubber roller to smooth the wall mural from the center outward, eliminating any air bubbles.
6. Apply the following strips
Apply the next strip, carefully aligning the pattern with the previous one. Ensure that the seams are straight, with no overlap or gaps.
Repeat this process for each strip until the entire wall mural is applied.
7. Trim the excess
Once all the strips are in place, use a cutter to trim any excess wall mural at the top, bottom, and sides, along baseboards and around door or window frames. Use a ruler to ensure straight cuts.
8. Clean and finalize
Use a clean, damp cloth to gently wipe away any excess paste that may have spilled onto the surface of the wall mural.
Additional Tips:
- Double-check the order of the strips before starting to ensure a perfect result.
- Work in a room at ambient temperature, away from drafts, to prevent the paste from drying too quickly.
- If air bubbles appear after application, use a pin to carefully pierce them, then smooth the area with the smoothing brush.
That’s it! Your wall mural is applied, transforming your wall into an immersive work of art!
Installation Instructions for Adhesive Wall Mural
Required Materials:
- The wall mural strips
- The layout plan
- A pencil
- A spirit level or plumb line
- A felt squeegee to avoid scratches
- A cutter
- A clean, dry cloth
- Painters tape (recommended)
1. Prepare the surface
To ensure good adhesion for the self-adhesive wall mural, the wall must be perfectly smooth, clean, dry, and dust-free. If your wall has irregularities, cracks, or paint residue, it’s important to sand and clean it thoroughly before installation. An imperfect wall may cause the wall mural to peel over time.
This line will serve as a guide for positioning the first strip straight.
4. Apply the first strip
Start by peeling back a small section of the backing paper at the top of the first strip, about 10-15 cm. Carefully align the strip with your drawn guide line.
Stick the exposed part of the strip to the wall, making sure it’s positioned correctly. Once the top is in place, continue peeling off the backing paper while smoothing the strip onto the wall using a felt squeegee to avoid air bubbles.
5. Smooth the wall mural
Use the felt squeegee to smooth the wall mural from the center outward. This helps to remove air bubbles and ensure good adhesion. Be gentle to avoid marking or scratching the adhesive surface.
6. Apply the following strips
Apply the next strip, carefully aligning the pattern with the previous one. Ensure that the strips meet perfectly without overlap or gaps.
Repeat this process until all strips are in place.
7. Trim the excess
Once all the strips are applied, use a cutter to trim any excess wall mural at the top, bottom, and sides, along baseboards and around door or window frames. Use a ruler to ensure straight cuts.
8. Clean and finalize
Use a clean cloth to gently wipe away any dust or debris that may have settled on the wall mural.
Additional Tips:
- The wall must be perfectly smooth to avoid any risk of the self-adhesive wall mural peeling off. If the wall is rough or has imperfections, it is recommended to carefully prepare it before installation.
- Work in a room at ambient temperature to make the application easier.
- If air bubbles appear, use the felt squeegee to smooth them out, or gently pierce them with a needle before smoothing again.
That’s it! Your self-adhesive wall mural is applied, transforming your wall into an elegant and modern surface!
